About SavannahUtility.com

SavannahUtility.com is a locally owned and operated convenient online bill-pay service. The site was launched in mid-2010 and has built a proven track record of dependable, reliable, and dedicated service to the Savannah community. The website is safe and secure. All personal and credit card information is safely handled and protected through trusted secure PayPal servers.

SavannahUtility.com was designed to meet two goals. Primarily, it provides a way to submit payment for your Savannah, GA water bill quickly and easily through PayPal and Data Services of Georgia.
Additionally, a page of Utility Links is included with information about most Savannah, GA area utilities, providing a one-stop online portal for payment of Water, Gas, Electricity, and Telephone

The City of Savannah, GA Water Department does not offer a way to directly pay your water bill online. There is not even a Pay-by-Phone option. Therefore, SavannahUtility.com, which is managed and operated through Data Services of Georgia, provides this alternative online bill-pay service which allows Savannah water customers essentially a new online payment option.

SavannahUtility.com is an online bill payment service offered through Data Services of Georgia. It is specifically designed for customers of the Savannah, GA Water department; however, it is not a part of, endorsed by, or affilliated in any way with either the City of Savannah, Georgia, or the City of Savannah, GA Water department.

SavannahUtility.com provides a fast, easy, and convenient way to submit your water payment online.

About the Online Payment Process

After you submit your online payment here at this site, your payment will be transferred to your water account at the City of Savannah Water Department at 132 East Broughton Street, Savannah, GA.

Payments received before noon are usually tranferred the same day. Payments received after noon (including evenings, weekends, and holidays) are usually transferred the next business day; however, always allow 2 business days for transfer in the event of special circumstances. Same-Day service is NOT guaranteed. If your payment needs to be at the Savannah Water Department "immediately today" it might be best to go in person to the Water Department at 132 East Broughton Street and make payment there. Additionally, eCheck payments will not be transferred to your account until they have cleared which usually requires 3-5 business days.

At checkout, a standard convenience fee of $5.95 (billed as "Shipping/Handling") and a 4% administration surtax (billed as "Tax" or "Sales Tax") will be automatically added to the online payment amount.

When you complete the Online Payment Form, we recommend that you include an email address that you check regularly or a contact phone number or, preferably, both. These items of information are not required; however, circumstances might arise which require a response from you, or you might need to be contacted for an important notice regarding your account and/or your online payment. In such instances, a valid and reliable means of contact does become important.

If you choose to provide a contact email address, that address will be used for email notifications. Otherwise, the email address you provide to PayPal will be used. After you have submitted your online payment, you will receive two emails: An "Acknowledgment" of your online payment; and a "Notification" that your payment transfer was completed. Email notices are usually sent within 1-12 hours.

All information submitted through this site will always remain strictly private and confidential.

All credit card and financial information is handled completely through secure trusted PayPal servers, so there is no need to worry about your payment security.

Note: Your credit card statement will indicate payment to PayPal and/or Data Services of Georgia
.

About the Payment Amount

If you are submitting a payment on or near the Due Date, simply pay the amount due as shown on your bill.

If you wish, it is ok to round up your payment. For instance, if your payment amount due is $47.50, you can pay $50.00 even. It is always ok to pay more than is due. Any payment amount exceeding what is currently due will be credited to your water account and will show on your next bill.

Avoid rounding down or otherwise paying less than the amount due. Paying less than the amount due could cause your account to be placed in an overdue status which could ultimately result in a service disconnect order.

In some cases, it is ok to pay the full amount due of the previous bill; however, there is a limited time on this option. To be safe, whenever you are paying less than the amount currently due, always check with the water department to be sure of the minimum payment you are authorized to make.

Caution: If your account is seriously Past Due, or has been disconnected, or is in danger of being disconnected, you should contact the Savannah water department to find out the minimum payment you must make to avoid service disconnection and/or the minimum you must pay to have your service turned back on. Past Due accounts, particularly those more than 2 billing cycles overdue, generally must be paid in full. If an order has issued for service disconnection, you may also be required to pay an additional $50 reconnection fee to restore service.
If you have received a Cutoff Notice, along with a Cutoff Date, be sure to include the Cutoff Date where provided on the Online Payment Form.

Note: This online bill-pay service is provided primarily for residential water accounts in good standing; therefore, the maximum single payment allowed is $500.00. If you should need to pay more than $500.00 on a water account, you may submit multiple payments, but not more than $500.00 on any single payment. For example, if you should wish to pay $800.00 on an account, you can submit one payment of $500.00 and another payment for $300.00 which would result in a total payment of $800.00 on your water account.

About Your Water Bill and Utility Rates

Does it seem like a long time since you received your last water bill?
What Utility Rates are used to calculate the water bill?

Savannah water bills are not sent out every month.
Instead, Savannah water customers receive six(6) regular bi-monthly bills each year.
That means you will receive a water bill approximately every other month.

Additionally, because there are so many water customers, all bills are not sent out on the same day.
Each Savannah water customer account is assigned to 1 of 8 "Billing Cycles" which determines when the bill for that account is sent out, and when the bill for that account is due. The "Due Date" is twenty days after the "Bill Date" usually.
